After the crazy reading challenge and house purchasing announcements... this felt like the natural next step in a string of life updates. Buckle up kiddos!

Say hello to the new baby of the family! This is Drax, a 4-year-old Cane Corso who happened to be in need of a new home while I was in peak Puppy Fever. (It's like baby fever, but you want something way better-- a puppy.) After about a month of weekly playdates and walkies, we took Drax home to start his new life in our home.

Stella has never met a dog, let alone a 160 lb monster like Drax before. She's still erm... warming up to the idea. Rest easy, she's really turned a corner and is coming to terms with having a big baby brother around. Though she does not yet appreciate Drax's oversized barks when the mailman comes by every day. *Sigh*

On the other hand, Drax has settled in quite nicely in his new home. He's claimed the couch, on the side opposite where Jack sits. He's quite content as the resident foot-warmer here. He delights in his morning treats and his night time walk to the ponds of the local university. (University students LOVE getting to pet Drax on their way home from class. He loves them too.) He gets whole beef femurs to gnaw on whenever I go to the butcher's and puppuccinos when we take drives to Starbucks together. Drax's favorite activity by far is venturing out to the local park to meet the ducks in the pond. The weirdo really loves sniffing their poo.

Drax has taken up a huge piece of my heart. I don't know how I ever lived without him in my life. You simply have not known happiness until you're getting whipped in the bum by a butt-shaking Cane Corso's tail every evening when you come home from work. You haven't known glee until you see him try to stick his over-sized tongue into one of those teensy puppuccino cups. I love that dog more than I can possibly say. I'm so grateful for his entrance into my life.

Be prepared for plenty more Drax and Stella content in the future! Our family just got a little bit bigger!
